I have no opinion on how much you should spend on new tires. I do not know your finances. THe only guidance I can give you is to avoid any ST tire.Also have you ever weighed the rig? That will enter into the calculations for proper tire replacement.

My last 5th wheel, a Keystone Everest, was very similar in weight to yours. I put on Michelin LTX truck tires LT235/85R16 and toured the country for two years without any tire issues. I'm running Michelin XPS Rib on my current trailer. You'll never see me with any tire stamped Made in China on any of my trailers as I don't like blow outs. If you insist on ST's may I recommend the Maxxis M8008, which aren't made in China.

In my defense, and please excuse the delay since I've been gone actually camping:

The O.P.'s original post read as if he was talkjng about a unit he already owned. That's the post I and others responded to. The O.P. edited his opener later to reflect the fact that, as you mention, this is a unit that he does not yet own.

That information being completely new to me, I'd simply say that any RV I bought with tires that old would get brand spankin' new ones, type/brand according to the advice of my trusted Tire Guys.

I'd never take a chance that anyone else took care of vehicle tires in the way I'm accustomed to doing.

We never cover our tires for the 6 months in Az. I do cover
them at home because we have the covers. I use plywood under the tires when not on the road. 5 years old in June of 2015 and the tires look as good as new for wear and looks. Just bought a new spare to replace the 2007 that never saw the sun.

Thanks for the response. We too cover our tires, with white covers. We also place clear vinyl desk pads under the tires to keep them off the gravel.

So their is usually a get together somewheres. When the trailer is at home and sitting under the carport . I keep tire covers on the tires.I still say tires are cheaper then repairing the RV and buying tires. Plus I buy the tires at my convience . Where, when you have a blow out it is not at your convience.

But I'm trying to gain as much knowledge experience-wise from others. I'm planning on traveling almost 3,000 miles in 30days starting the mid-next month.
