used trailer - water heater issue?

I'm still shopping used trailers and am debating making the drive to see one about 3 hours away. I asked the seller about any water damage and this is what they said "There is some evidence of some water issue. It is not frequent and the only evidence is some bubbles that forms around the water heater outside." Any guesses as to what is going on here?

Does this sound like a deal breaker water issue or is it more along the line of new connections etc? I know I need to be very vigilant on looking for water damage and mold, but I don't want to waste a day driving out to see something that will cost more to fix than it is worth. They already list awning fabric damage that I assume will need replacing.
  • Good idea to pass on it, any evidence of water damage can be very costly.
  • saw a picture - whole back fiberglass panel is wavy. I'm guessing it is delaminated(?). Will pass on this one.
  • I would just pass on it. There are too many trailers for sale out there to take a chance that there is hidden damage.
  • Do not waste your time unless it is at a very good price. For my money I want quality and no issues that wind up costing me more at the end. I have been there and I wish that on no one. Good Hunting.
  • can they send you pictures of the bubbles? does it only happen when the water heater is full and turned on? when it rains? it might be coming from the drain plug or relief valve. while your asking for pictures get one of the awning and ask for the date code on the tires.
