What I do know is I have narrowed it down to either the 100/120 or 200/220 models. I do know that the 100's are 8500 BTU and the 200's are 12000 btu. What I am wondering is has anyone had experience with both as far as to cooking surface. We are a family of 4. How ever when we go with some of our camping buddies we usually split up the meals and this can jump it up to cooking for 8. the 8 cinsists 4 adults and 4 kids under the age of 10. ThanksMajja

The BabyQ (100) is fine for 4 max.

I've sold and used both. I actually used a Q120 for a grand opening of an ACE HW Store with one making tons of burgers and hot dogs for people. It had no problem keeping up. Now if I were grilling enormous steaks it would have been another matter but the cooking area is big enough for most family duty.I've been using a Q100 for several years for camping and it has worked out great.

the Q100 is really great for us, a two person family. If you can spare the space, the larger one would be better for a family. As far as heat goes, I heat mine up on high, then turn it down to half or lower to cook. I will do 1" steaks med rare in about 5 min. or less.

Cooking for 8, I would advise the larger grill or your going to be rotating stuff in on larger items like T bones or NY Strips. You'd be fine with 8 burgers, chicken breasts or pork chops or 16 hot dogs.

Thanks for all the info. I have a little smokey Joe that I love to do steaks on, it is where we boondock there are often fire restrictins and I cannot use charcoal all the time.

I have the 200 and a buddy had a 100. I much prefer the larger one as I sometimes use a cast iron pan. With the larger one I can close the lid while using it.

I've outgrown the smokey joe and Go anywhere gas now its the Q220. Its big enough if you like to grill and small enough to carry along. The extra height and width come in handy for guests or full meals...

For 2-4 the Q100 will work, for 4 or more I think you need a Q200. They are producing a Q300 now also
