2000 E450 Class C Brake Controller
So I purchased this unit last year and have been unable to determine my problem. I am thinking I have a short some where, but here it goes.
Under the dash near the emergency brake are two connectors (one grey and one brown) which will connect to the 4 wire controller connector. I purchased a Quest inertia brake controller. The Quest unit did not have the correct 4 wire install as the right front marker light was on after install. I then bought a Ford 4 wire adapter. It also did not work. I have tracked down wires now and have the 12V hooked up and the grey connector verified by running a wire from the 7 way connector in the back to the front under the dash and checking for resistance. I also have the trailer brake wire hooked up this way and the ground. I have brake lights, turn signals and marker lights, but they may be dim. I have about 4 volts on the trailer brake circuit when the brakes are not depressed and 12 volts when they are. I was expecting 0 volts when the brakes were not depressed. I seem to get near zero ohms on several wires together from the plug under the dash to the rear 7 prong plug. Not sure what to do but scrap the whole thing and start over. Anyone has similar fun or wish to anything else I should check? Thanks in advance.
