2007 Tahoe Tow/Haul mode

We recently changed our tow vehicle to a 2007 Tahoe. This truck has a Tow/haul button, but I’m unsure if you put the vehicle in drive/overdrive and press the tow/haul or put it in 3rd gear. I used to tow with a ‘99 Suburban and always towed in 3rd, as I have always heard that you shouldn’t tow in Drive/ overdrive.

But you’re comparing apples and oranges.
Although, the T/H in the 4L60 is “dumb” by current standards and certainly different than an Alli trans.

To the OP yes it will raise shift points. (“Both” of them, lol, but it doesn’t do squat for sensing when to downshift earlier.) And when accelerating with a trailer hooked up, the trans will shift later even not in TH mode.
IMO it’s actually more useful when not towing to keep the eco minded slush box from upshifting “early.”
But it doesn’t hurt to use TH. In the event you are accelerating very slowly it will hold a gear a bit longer and give you a slightly warm and fuzzy feeling.

The owner's manual describes how to use tow/haul mode. To paraphrase: Activate tow haul mode any time you are towing or hauling.

Leave it in Drive and use the Tow Haul mode.
