2016 CR-V Dual Clutch Transmission

Question

So yesterday I took the CR-V in for routine maintenance and while there asked a salesman if anything was being changed on the 2016 CR-V transmission so that an automatic would be 4-down towable.

He said that he "thought" the 2016 CVT transmission would be changed and the new version would be towable. However, he could not verify this or point me in the direction of where I could verify.

Service department had no further information.

On line there are some references to the 2016 CR-V having a "dual clutch transmission". Could that, conceivably, be towed four down?

Anyone heard or read anything?

A salesman talking, like the one I just talked to. He told me that he just sold
2 HRVs that a going to be used as toads, no problem. Checked owners manual in both CRV & HRV, both state no to towing behind a Motorhome, transmission damage will happen.
My SIL works in Honda engineering and knowing Hondas reputation for some changes, it is not likely to happen for 2016, but could be wrong. Since the 2015 is the start of 'of a next generation' the 16 will have very minimal changes, cosmetic if anything

Hyundai is using a dual clutch transmission in their new Tucson. I doubt sincerely that it is going to be 4 down towable as well. At this point, I'd chalk this one up to wishful thinking.

Beverly and Ken: The HRV is four down towable when equipped with a manual transmission. This has been discussed to death and verified by Honda.

Hi Luvlabs, I know the story with Honda and manual transmissions, but the owners manual in all the Honda's state that towing behind a MH will damage the transmission, doesn't differentiate for manual transmission. I looked through all the cars in the showroom and checked all owners manuals Fit, Civic, CRV etc, all had the same wording. (I had a six hour wait, after appt time for routine service on my CRV, last trip to dealer for service)

We have a 2012 CRV with 12,000 miles.  I am hoping that down the road, Honda will at least make it an option to have the older transmission that is towable so you could order your Honda to be towable.   That would be the best of both worlds.
