2016 Ford Ranger

That sounds interesting to hear about that truck in Mexico.

I wonder if they will be able to import them to America? I guess it should be possible to drive a non-USA compliant vehicle in the United States as long as you are residing in another country, or the vehicle is registered in a country that it is compliant in that country... .

It would be much better to see some pictures, I hope that you take a few at the Ford dealership, and include the GVWR and cargo rating if you can get them!

If you try to import it into the People's Republic of California you may be getting a rude surprise. We have draconian rules and regulations to go with the stricter polution laws, possibly causing you many $$$ to retrofit.

You cannot import the truck into either the USA or Canada. It would not meet emission standards and would not have the required USA DOT sticker. A Mexican national can drive that vehicle in the USA but he cannot register it outside of Mexico. There is a Ford Mexico website but it is really bad. Has a few pictures of the interior and the exterior but not much else. Only comes with a 4 cyl.!!!!!!! I will try to get some photos next week.

I believe the ranger and bronco are to return in 2017/18 it has been in the news lately. I think USA today or fox had a blurb on it last week. Bad part is it is a new issue vehicle and will probably be full of bugs since it will not likely be a direct carry over of the international model. Truck trend indicated it could possibly come with a 4 banger diesel?

Most new models will have teething issues for first few years, the chebby's will be having issues as well as I read that the new diesel jeeps are already being recalled!

Hopefully they've made major improvements. My dad has a 2008 or 2009 and it has been the biggest POC he's ever owned.

While I agree that Ford probably did not make the Mexico truck pass California standards (the cost to run the tests is very expensive, as they need to take a truck, drive it 100,000 miles, then pass the emissions tests) I can only guess that the 4 cylinder is one similar to what is used in America and Europe. I am also sure they do not make it produce more smog for use in Mexico. It should have all the same fuel injection, catalytic converter, and the rest of the stuff.

I look forward to seeing production of the Ranger again. Some people just want a compact truck. I would hope they call it a F-100 or F-50 so that it can join the best selling F-series of trucks! They could start selling 1,000,000 a year if they added all the truck badges together.

The Mexican Ford Ranger for 2016, is the older Global Ranger with a smaller 2.5 litre Diesel instead of the 3.2 litre engine. Mexican Emission Standards are .In 2013, Mexico adopted CO2 emission and fuel economy regulations for light duty vehicles 2894 that are harmonized with the US EPA standards for model year 2012-2016 vehicles and call for an average fuel economy of 14.9 km/L (35 mpg) in new vehicles by MY201
A Mexican vehicle would be illegal here .US Diesels are still illegal here, unless modified to meet to meet Euro 5 regs

It will be the International model, as the Ranger was designed to be sold in the US IF Ford was going to do that.

Not related to the US Ranger, would have been better to call it a F100 to avoid confusion

Robert Ryan: I am confused by your post. Some typos make it worse. The 2016 Mexican Ford Ranger is not a diesel. It is a 4 cylinder and looks like the Rangers from SA. No Mexican diesel engines are EPA certified. There is no ULSD in Mexico. No Mexican diesel vehicles have DEF.
