4 down towing of 2005 PT Cruiser (manual transmission)

I haven't joined a forum previously, so hope I am addressing this correctly. We have a 2004 Monaco Beaver Santiam (diesel pusher) and we want to tow our 2005 PT Cruiser Convertible (manual transmission). We would like to tow it four down. Is it safe to tow this car 4 down? What type of tow bar would we use and how should it be attached to the Cruiser? Any help we could get from experienced RVers would be appreciated.
  • IIRC, the Owners Manual for my '06 PT Cruiser says it can be towed four down IF it is manual transmission. The automatic tranny may NOT be towed four down, but Remco makes a lube pump for it. In fact, mine has a lube pump, but it is not hooked up. I tow it on a dolly. No problem.
I wish my Touring Edition Turbo was a manual tranny...

    j-d has the right idea.
    Good luck.

Do you have the Owner's Manual and if so, does it have a section called "recreational towing" or words to that effect? There'll be info on towing it if broken down, but recreational is different because it's done farther and longer.

REMCO Towing should have a listing of towable vehicles and so does Motorhome Magazine.

If you don't already have towing components, there are many choices. If I were starting over, I'd look at the stuff from Night Shift Auto.

    Major components are

    Motorhome Hitch
    Towbar
    Supplemental Braking System
    Towed Vehicle Baseplate
Safety Cables, Towed Vehicle Lighting, Connecting Electrical Cables

    You'll see many opinions.
