4 Wire Flat Extension or 4/7 pin?

Hi,
I am looking for a 4 wire to 4 Wire Flat Extension or maybe a 4 flat to 7 pin round lead to go between my toad (CR-V) and my Tiffin MH which will have a Hopkins custom Tail Light wiring kit HM 56304 (4 pin flat) connector on front bumper.
I see this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002Q7C0I it's 4' but not sure if it is good?? I can't find any coiled ones that are longer than 3ft, I'm guessing 3ft won't be long enough, unless someone can set me straight.

thanks
Paul

You could look at the 164-7. You must realize that the eight foot long measurement is when it is completely extended. In normal relaxed it is going to be about 4 feet long.Coiled wiring
Yes, you could remove the round connector and splice in a four flat.

    Thanks.
That one had a round 4 pin so I found this on on Amazon, it's 8' and has the 4 pin flat.

    Thanks a bunch.

  • Thanks everyone for your input.

Here is what I thought of getting:
Hopkins 47115 4 Wire Flat Extension, 48" Length

My 7 pin plug on the MH has a 4 pin flat adapter. So I thought I would save a little cash and use this.

The Installers said it would work BUT it would have a great chance of it coming undone...is this true?

When I spoke with the installers this morning and mentioned I might use a coiled type instead (if I can find one) they said:
"As far as the coil, tech recommends instead of 4 flat, he said to go from 7 round to a 6 round since it keeps coiled longer. We have in stock and price is 104.00"
    Yikes...

I can buy say 8' (too long?) of trailer cord with a 7 pin plug on one end for about $22. Is it possible just to wire a 4 flat plug on the other end to plug into the Hopkins custom Tail Light wiring kit HM 56304 on the CR-V toad?

Why can't I find a pre-made 7 pin to 4 pin flat that is coiled but longer than 3', as that seems Waaaaay to short (need 4' to 6' ???).
  • Whatever you do, towing a CRV, I would provide a battery charge line. If you don't, you will be using some kind of fuse or battery disconnect to keep from drawing the toad batt down.

  • You can buy 48 inch and some have 60 inch loops. Should find them at Walmart, Tractor Supply, O'Reilly Auto parts
    Draw-Tite makes them
  • I made my own so it was custom length, because I couldn't find one that I liked either. But mine is from 7 pin to 6 pin, because I bought a used wiring/brake set-up that already had the wires run for the 6 pin.
