First of all I don't want to start a tire brand bashing or war. I just bought a new Gray Wolf 26BH this winter and of course it has china bombs Vail something and they are an ST tire, I truthfully don't recall the exact brand. I plan on replacing them within a couple years max. My question is while they appear to be wearing evenly they look like there over inflated in the middle another words the center of the tire appears to bulge out instead of a flat tread surface. I have checked the tread wear and it pretty even all the way across it's more of an appearance thing that I notice. I am anal about checking the air pressure in the early morning before every trip on the road and it's stored inside a dry building when not in use. I keep them aired to the max 50 psi cold. I never noticed that much of a bulge appearance on my past good year marathons. Any suggestion here?

You'll likely be replacing them much sooner than "within a few years". My co-worker with the same trailer and tires had to replace his within the first year due to weather cracking and dry rot, even though they are kept covered.Save yourself the headaches and potential damage and replace them now.

Is 50# proper or might it be too high. Need to weigh the trailer loaded and set pressure according to the tire mfg chart.

I have some of those Vail ? tires on a cargo trailer I just bought.I have noticed the same bulge you mentioned, also the tires seam to be wearing nicely. On another note there is a recall on a certain size of those tires. I was able to check and mine were not affected, Mine are 14 inch and I think the recall was for one specific size in 15 inch.I'm sorry I can't help any more but I don't remember where I learned of the recall. If I remember correctly I contacted the importing distributor and they returned my call with the info that my tires weren't part of the recall.Google the tires name and you should get more information.

X2-I recently had 3 BFG Commercial 225/75R16LT T/A's go bad with one throwing the tread. The other two had a bulge and I found them with broken belts. Jack a tire up enough to turn. Spin the wheel and see if it wobbles or take them to a tire dealer and they can check them.

Not sure where anyone came up with traveling 200 miles. That was never mentioned. Yes I am planning having them checked however if it was tread separation it's strange that all 4 of them look exactly alike.

Not a dumb question at all. Get them checked. I have had several tires in this condition replaced under warranty, no questions asked. It is belt separation and total tire failure is not far away.

Why wait for the big bang and the damage that will come from it? Get a tire you have some experience with or confidence in.

Synopsis ouble Camel in cooperation with Lionshead Specialty Tire & Wheel LLC (Lionshead) is recalling certain Vail Sport ST LH 99 tubeless trailer tires, size 225/75D15, load range D, DOT code 69, manufactured from July 14, 2013, through July 27, 2013 (and a sidewall date code 2813 or 2913). The affected tires may fail under prolonged use and may become unseated from the rims. As such, these tires fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 119, " New Pneumatic Tires for Vehicles Other Than Passenger Cars." Failure or unseating of the tire increases the risk of a crash. Lionshead will notify owners, and dealers will replace the tires with compliant ones. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Customers may contact Lionshead at 1-574-533-6169.
