Air Bag Pressure

I will be traveling with my cargo trailer and pulling it with a Ram 3500 dually with airbags. The whole set up is no more that 5k in weight. What air pressure would you set your airbags?
  • The 5 psi is the UNLOADED pressure as the PSI increases with load. I would run my PacBrake bags at 5psi unloaded but when the 4,500# pin was applied the bag pressure would hit about 30psi.
  • With that small a trailer. You don't need more than the 5psi. Minimum the manuf recommends.
  • Keeping 5-8lbs in them will keep them from getting damaged on large bumps or massive potholes. Plus that way you know if they get a leak when you check the air. You don't need more air than that unless you notice significant rear end squat. 2500lb+ I would imagine.

That is the information I was looking for not if I can drag it around America. Thanks Cummins!! I just wanted to double check

    Happy to help!

  • Rather than the succinct response I was going to post, I'll be serious and say......none, unless there's more to your question than hooking a smallish trailer to a truck with a payload capacity north of 2 tons.

Zero if they have the bump stops in them 5 psi if not!! :S

Edit: I see you have a six speed, I would not even use 1st gear towing that littler!!
