Air bed question

Are any of you who have air beds in your RVs concerned about what you would do if the bed started leaking air? (I mean losing enough air to go flat overnight.)

I bought a used Sleep Number bed (RV short queen) from a friend. I used it in my house to try it out first and really like it (with a memory foam topper on it). But I'm afraid to use it in the RV on long trips for the reason stated above. I know I could run out and buy another bed while traveling, but you can't always find a short queen on every street corner. Besides, buying a bed is a process for me.

Please share your thoughts.
  • Thanks everybody for nipping my concern in the bud. Dog Folks, your idea to buy a cheap air mattress sounds like a winner, should the situation arise.
  • We have been using a Sleep Number bed in the house for almost 17 years, replace it with a new one this year. Had one in the last RV for 8 years and one in the new RV for 15 months so far, never had a leak in any of them.
  • sleep number for 8 years in house. Used an Arero in the Trail Manor for 2 years and in the Shasta for 6,never had a problem. go for it.
  • Sleep number for almost 8 years. One problem and it was covered under warranty.
  • My Sleep Number RV King works perfectly for the past 2 1/2 years. No problems here.
  • We have had an Expanded Queen Sleep Number bed in our coach for the last 4 yrs. The only advice I can give you is to lower the air in the bed when you go up into high elevations. If you don't you risk the air mattress popping due to too much pressure.
  • We have had a Sleep Number for 6 years. One side did develop a leak, but it never went flat overnight. It was replaced under warranty.

If so, we would have purchased a cheap air mattress at WalMart until repairs could be made. It was what we did to "try out" air beds, initially before spending big bucks.

It is not a concern with us.
