air mattress

my son was here today and we were talking about camping for next year. they camped with us this year and he and his wife and my grandson slept on the air mattress. poor little guy got crushed when they both rolled towards the middle. what do you guys do when you have guests? I had it blown up as high as I could get but they still rolled to the middle. I do not have a leak that I know of but would like to have them camp with us often. they did switch over to the dinette set to get some sleep. and they are too long legged for that bed. any ideas to try? thanks
  • You did not say how old the grandson is but any reason he can't sleep on the dinette made into a bed and the parents on the air mattress bed?
  • Maybe put a narrow piece of foam under the center of the air mattress so that portion is a little higher than the outer areas, and hope that your grandson doesn't roll off and edge out his parents.
  • Maybe a single bed (air Mattress) for the little guy, It can go next to Mom and Dad and he should be ok then
  • How about using 4" memory foam instead of an air mattress. When you aren't using the 4" foam for guests you can keep it on the bed as a topper.
  • I slept on one of those air mattress ONCE. They are 'cold'! Sucks the heat right out of your body.

Sounds crazy but when my friends traveled with me with a child we went out and bought one of those 'Serta' orthopedic beds for extra large dogs!

Same serta bed as for people but 1/10th the price!.

Certainly not cheap but boy are they comfy!! And works great for extra guests. Easy to store too. Heck it's more comfortable than my MH bed that I had to sleep in.

'scroll down to bottom' to see less expensive orthopedic memory foam beds, made in the USA. Walmart, Sam's etc.
