An Important Message From the North Pole

This annual notification was just sent from the boys up at North Pole Air Operations asking all RV’ers expecting Santa on Xmas Eve to please pay attention to the following guidelines in the interest of safety to the crew on duty tonight, and expediency of each delivery. Text to follow...

----------------------------------------snip-----------------------------------------------
From: North Pole Global Air Operations (NPGAO)
To: All RV’ers with scheduled sled delivery service starting Dec. 24th.
Subject:Schedule of aerial sled operations Xmas Eve
Date Starting: Dec 24, 2016 @ 6PM
Date Ending: Dec 25, 2016 @ 6AM

IMPORTANT:
Please lower all TV & Satellite antennas, and solar panels flat to the roof to give the sled a place to park and so the Reindeer won’t trip on things. If you need to keep your antennas extended, mark them with a red flashing marker with a 7 degree up angle to keep from bothering the neighbors. NO STROBES! It agitates the Reindeer and you will be bypassed. As mentioned, Solar panels should also be lowered to provide a reasonably flat landing surface. Contrary to popular belief, the entire weight of the sled and reindeer is less than 2lb/ sq.ft., so no damage will occur. Likewise, please lower all open vent covers. Santa has a CH751 key to get in when necessary.

Those that have roof parameter xmas lights on the RV are requested to leave them On over Xmas Eve for short final visual. RV roof landings are particularly tricky due to the random positioning of the rig, especially in the boondocking areas. Please be aware that there can be significant sled wash depending on approach, departure, and wind conditions in the area, so either retract or anchor all awnings. Santa wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and appreciates assistance in express deliveries tonight.

NEW for Christmas Eve 2016
Those piloting "Drones" are asked to land them for the night starting at sundown. Small Drones are extremely hard to see from back in the sled and will spook the Reindeer.

You ought to see them come in with a cross wind and skid off the RV's roof and do a belly flop on the awning, that is funny.

Those flapless landings can't be any fun either

When you go that far North you have to be carefull of low flying raindeer practicing landings on the RV roof, the young ones tend to skid and drop off, they make a racket on the awning stomping on it, best not to deploy the antena or open any vent, they trip on those.

The above posts bring up a thought: How close to the North Pole can a regular joe RV'er (i.e. non-scientist, non-military on duty, non-LEO on duty, non-ranger on duty, non-hunter, non-fisher, etc.) drycamp or hookup camp in the summer with a plain old vanilla motorhome or towable??

There must be a summer camping area open to the public way up there somewhere!! :h

Obviously put together by Elves. I'll make sure they pay better attention next year

Besides, its not a NOTAM. They already know where Santa is thanks to NORAD. This is notice is for RV'ers, some who can't spell anyway....

Dear Scrooge, you also fail to understand what Christmas is. Without getting overly religious on this forum, it is Jesus' birthday. He's the reason for the season.

Christmas is a time we can all pretend we are young children again and believe in magic. The rest of the year we deal with reality and adult responsibilities. I enjoy the respite.

The approach plates should be good to go, the North Pole has not moved to much, it is Australia that moved.

Pilatus PC12/47 N246YZ 400 NM out heading 017 at Angels 22 squawking 1216, all lit up nav, beacon, recon, and strobes do not want to collide with the reindeer.

Merry Christmas to all, only bought one present each for the wife, sister in law and husband, niece and husband and Miau-Mix for the 8 cats.

Got to go North Pole ATC is rerouting traffic
