The last bastion of sanity has jumped on the "stay at home" bandwagon. They just sent me an email that they have closed all state parks to save the 1% who may die from the dreaded super virus. Texas was once a great state.

Honestly you need to quit posting percentages as they are meaningless unless you can quote the number of infected. Actual numbers of infected, not the numbers tested.

Here's the math for the non-believers:
1 person infects three people while camping. Those three people each infect three others. Those 9 people each infect three others. Those 27 people each infect three others. Those 81 people each infect three others. Those 243 people each infect three others. Those 729 people each infect three others. Those 2,187 people each infect three others. That's 6,561 people infected in 8 days because one guy doesn't want to follow simple rules.

Oh. Out of the 6,562 infected people.....66 (1%) end up dying because the rules didn't suit him. Are you going to be one of the 66 dead people?

Just to be perfectly clear. I don't have to trust one single thing he personally wrote. He did a nice job of collating information from reputable sources and included links to all. The "internet" can be used appropriately for information.

Professor Hinkley is from Gilligan's Island, so is nothing more than a screen name. He could be a nut-job or a legit professor or medical professional who wouldn't dare go public if his opinion didn't match group-think.

It's just one set of data among many others.

CBS just showed a guy who died, not from the virus, but because of his heart, after his elective heart surgery was canceled. If we hadn't reacted so strongly to the virus, he might be alive now instead.

People forget about 'the law of unintended consequences.'


Take anything CBS reports on this with a grain of salt. They just ran a story a few days ago about some nurse that supposedly quit due to hospital conditions related to COVID-19. CBS never vetted the story and it turns out she hasn't worked there in a year because she is bi-polar and has other psychological issues. That said if waiting for the surgery truly caused his death then it wasn't elective surgery, it was necessary. He MIGHT still be alive but there's no way to know-it's possible he could have died from the virus itself had he contracted it or spread it to someone who may have died. There are always unintended consequences but I question the decision to postpone if he died from the issue.
