The last bastion of sanity has jumped on the "stay at home" bandwagon. They just sent me an email that they have closed all state parks to save the 1% who may die from the dreaded super virus. Texas was once a great state.

That is the most crass statement I have read in the last 10 pages. 10 Million people lost there job in the last 2 Weeks. Let that sink in for a minute.

Let me try to explain it again. If you ban cars, you will save 40K lives per year at the unknown cost of whatever that would do to the economy.

If we ban leaving our homes, we can save an unknown number of people from Wuhan virus, at the unknown cost to the economy.

They are both choices. Which lives are most important?

only those actually involved in the accident are hurt. Bystanders that witnessed the accident are not impacted.
However you may spread the virus to someone you didn't even know. Someone far from the source may die that had no contact with the original infected person. The infected person may totally survive the accident and have no systems , yet he may spread the virus to lots of unsuspecting people which may have devastating results.

Two weeks of awful fever followed by drowning in one's own bodily fluids somehow seems harsher than the common cold. I don't care what Rush Limbaugh, MD says. Might want to listen to some actual patients before blowing it off as a hoax meant to embarrass the President.

My daughter just sent me a really interesting writeup. It says intubation may be the wrong treatment while providing additional whole blood is better, and it explains why the Chloroquine works. Interesting reading. I noticed that someone (they who must not be named?) must have gotten to the article and deleted it, because this link goes to the 'wayback machine' web page archive.

"Explaining" it doesn't make any less ridiculous. But who am I? I'll let the professionals answer it...

โ€œFirst of all, I think thatโ€™s a false equivalency to compare traffic accidents with (coronavirus) โ€” thatโ€™s totally way out,โ€ said Fauci. โ€œWhen you have something new and itโ€™s emerging, and you really canโ€™t predict totally the impact itโ€™s going to have, and you take a look at whatโ€™s gone on in China and you see whatโ€™s going on right now โ€” right now โ€” in Italy, and whatโ€™s happening in New York City, I donโ€™t think with any moral conscience you can say, โ€˜Why donโ€™t we just let it rip and happen and let โ€˜xโ€™ percent of the people die.' I donโ€™t understand that reasoning at all.โ€

Canโ€™t wait till this is over so we can see the end result and watch the finger pointing start! I predict the numbers will be a lot lower than what are being reported now. This whole virus has gotten out of hand with how we have been reacting to it. It can be compared to the toilet paper hoarding. One person does it, and it snowballs from there and then it looks real bad when in reality it was never bad to begin with. Just like all the other viruses that have popped up every 4 years for as long as I can remember. And there were some numbers that make this virus look like a common cold!

Cvirus is quite a bit more deadly then comon cold

This cars/road argument...makes no sense really. OP, you're retired, you earned it. enjoy it from wherever you are until you can be elsewhere.

All this back and forth.....I'm essential front line personnel. On my days off, I stay at home but get my recreation and essentials in accordance with the governor's order. The same goes for my wife.

If YOU want to make the decisions, run for office. Thankfully some of you haven't, never will, or aren't currently in a position of power. Adjust to the reality of today like the rest of us and be thankful you don't have to expose yourself to the risk.

Hopefully those suffering financially can find a way to recover and get back on their feet or just get things back in normal order (myself included). Bankruptcy hasn't stopped others from getting to the top. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Yep, I will go out on a limb and forecast less than 60,000 casualties of this virus this season. Which would be like a bad flu season.

Here in Tulsa I've heard some of the hospitals have entire floors not in use, and some nurses and staff are being furloughed because they don't have much to do. Well, they canceled elective surgeries, and less injuries with people staying home. So it's pretty quiet around here.
