And Texas Caves In

The last bastion of sanity has jumped on the "stay at home" bandwagon. They just sent me an email that they have closed all state parks to save the 1% who may die from the dreaded super virus. Texas was once a great state.

I have been in the medical field for some 41 years. This is how I see it. Lets say knowledge is like a pond 6 ft deep. In my speciality I probably know it down to say 5 feet after 41 years. In areas out of my specialty I might know it down a foot or so. So for me to argue with someone who know it down to 6 feet is stupid.

See, the first few inches, everything seems so crystal clear. But the problem is, at two inches you don't know about the yeah buts, the maybes, the could be but, and the maybe nots.

When you don't know, what you don't know that is a huge problem. I say we go withwhat the boys at the CDC say, they are the ones that know the pond down 6 feet, not you or I

Here in the NE, it's real... I know of probably 15 people that have it, 8 are personal friends... Out of the people I know that have it 3 have died...

Comparing it to the flu is just silly, the flu has a vaccine.... That will help to squash the seriousness of the sickness.... there is no vaccine for this.... We didn't make this up,, look all over the world..
It's easy to not believe there is a problem when your not living in it...Once it hits home you will change your tune..
No, comparing it to the flu is reasonable, a flu shot will not guarantee that you won't get the flu because there are several strains and they only concoct vaccines for certain strains.

As far as hitting home, it already has. I've had it, and at least 6 people I know have also had it. It has been around since back in November. They just didn't know what it was, only that it was a very serious upper respiratory tract infection caused by a virus. It hit nursing homes very hard in this area. This was back before it had a name.

It's very unpleasant, but not a death sentence by any means. But if you have health issues, lung or respiratory problems, asthma, a compromised immune system, you can be more at risk.

Best we listen to the folks who do this for a living in my opinion. And not someone without absoultly no knowledge, spouting his or her pet theory

China is no longer in lockdown. Was most of China ever in lockdown?

I agree with trusting those who do it for a living. This does not include the news stories or politicians (unless they include their sources), where most of everybodyโ€™s information is probably coming from.

I prefer to look at the raw data that is published from reputable sources and draw my own conclusions.

If that is how you analyze the data you may want to steer clear from any "news" out of China. Your first and subsequent statements do not reconcile if you are a fact person.

Point taken. I saw some (untrustworthy?) news where they were complaining about all of the people out on a tourist trail, along with a picture of crowds of two-way traffic wearing masks.

I donโ€™t use any of the China data to form my opinion of how we should precede. Not that it matters as Iโ€™m not in charge anyway. ๐Ÿ™‚

For those who view it as being selfish, and self centered, consider a different view. How about the view that by keeping the parks open, and allowing people to disperse to state parks, it actually helps with the overall social distancing requirement.

I am not sure I understand the closing of state park CG's. To me camping is an excellent way to self quarantine. The trick is practicing responsible social distancing. Hotels I can see, but campgrounds? I am closer to people at home in my neighborhood.
I absolutely agree. It just seems a knee-jerk reaction, like they have to do something, no matter what, as long as it looks like their doing something.

Can't speak for anyone else but Georgia, but the park workers are min manned. The visitors centers and other areas that people typically congregate in are closed. Online check-in for camping reservations. So, they can and are restricted on who they interact with.
