Any innovative ideas for lugging a heavy/awkward generator

the 'suitcase-type' inverter generator we just got weighs just enough (with fuel, about 65 lbs) and is just awkward enough in shape and size to make it unpleasant to lug around from the house to the truck or to lug around the campsite....unfortunately, this one doesn't have wheels and there's no wheel kit available

Came up with the idea of just putting it in a wagon if I had to take it a ways...but that seems 'tippy', and impractical over anything but a paved surface

Has anyone come up with a work-around?

I have one of the light, folding 2 wheel dollies and it is great and so handy. It will handle 100# plus with ease.

You said "we". Free, and easy to store, couple sticks, straps, ropes, whatever makes handles for 2 people to carry it. No concern about storage of a dolly, type of terrain, etc.

This is a out of the box idea, camping world sells a fixed steel platform that installs above the trailer tougue.

Another option is to make a mount that goes on the A-frame and just leave the generator there...for the most part, no need to move it.

So there's no wheel kit.. You can but wheels and axels and other stuff and make your own wheel kit.

A Wheelchair hoist will lift it into truck.
65 pounds is still a one hand load for me.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

Back when I hauled my Honda i3000 which weighs some #140.. I rigged a hook in my garage and could us a come-a-long hand winch to get it into the back of the truck.

Then, I would just run it from the truck bed as needed plugged into the trailer. I had a 25' 30a extension as needed and worked great..

I don't do boondock camping anymore, so have not needed the gen, but it is still handy for the house backup with my gen switch... 🙂

Anyway, good luck! Mitch

Easy to store, and easily handles the weight with just a heavy bunggee to secure.

I use a furniture moving dolly. Of course that doesn't help with lifting, but there is always someone around to help with a quick lift.

At one time, Camping World sold a special made luggage bag with wheels. It had small compartments for the accessories and protected the generator well. In addition, it had both hand and shoulder straps. I bought two for my pair of generators and did have trouble with weak bottoms, axles and wheels, but I beefed them up. They quit selling them and I know of no other source. Perhaps some searching for generator bags or one that can be modified might turn up something.
