Don't believe these several doctors? No problem. Shelter in place all you want. Shelter in place for years for all I care. Leaves more campgrounds spaces for use that believe these doctors and many more scientists.

Remember, this is one person and the exposure was for 1/2 an hour. Remember this next time you have to go to Costco for some toilet paper. Or the store for some milk.

Those are going to become super viruses. All of that work the Dr's and scientists do to make a vaccine is going to be for not.

Once a super virus starts it's going to make this CV19 thing seem like a common flu. Oh wait; it already is. :R

OP, I would be out of here right now but my job says I need to serve the public. And I have to go to work everyday to do just that; serve the public.

What difference does it make if I'm exposed serving the public or on vacation? Personally I would want to be on vacation.

Look a the states that have no lock down orders. Their infection rates are no higher than the ones that do have orders. In many cases lower.

I just hope diesel is still 2 bucks a gallon when I can go in Sept.

H5N1 isn't even remotely comparable to Covid 19

Almost all cases of H5N1 infection in people have been associated with close contact with infected live or dead birds, or H5N1-contaminated environments. The virus does not infect humans easily, and spread from person to person appears to be unusual.

Covid 19 is highly contagious between humans and right now the case mortality rate in the US is 5.7% so be careful out there and don't give it to anyone else in your travels.

Where is home?
Yes, as you know being 84 alone causes a risk, high risk they say. Any underlying health condition only makes it more risky to catch the virus so they say.
The longer you can stay in FL the more time there is for FDA to approve treatments or medicines, so the more likely if you do catch a virus that you are able to be treated early.
Testing is also exploding, so the longer you wait the easier it might be to get tested.
FL likely safer than where you live. Im guessing not in the SE if you are a snow bird.

You can mingle with the virus and not catch it, you have to keep it out of your eyes, nose, mouth etc. Use hand sanitizer, alcohol based, when needed and often.

It will be a hard trip if you plan to bring all your food and sleep in the truck. Thats what college kids do, but not mature adults. Plan around the weather.

The illness is very real, but is quite a bit over-hyped. Very small chance you would catch it, but just in case take all precautions.

I posted a reply earlier and it appears it was lost due to the technical problems plaguing this forum.

To the OP: If you can afford to keep a winter home in the Keys you should be able to afford a nice hotel or 2 on the way back. Don't risk your life at 84 with a cheap motel. That's my advice.

If I was traveling now (I’m not) it would not be staying in motels.

We have 2 dogs and have found the hotel rooms that welcome dogs, aren't always a hallmark of cleanliness to start with.

Ain’t that the truth. It’s why we ended up with an RV again.
