Are our roads getting worse?

We just finished our 4,000+ mile snowbird annual adventure, which left us feeling like our roads and interstates are worse than ever. It doesn't look like our government is able to keep up at all with road repairs. No wonder our tire discussions go on for ever.

"Are our roads getting worse?"

YES, even some of the toll roads are bad, and we're paying directly for those.

Yes, the roads are getting worse everywhere. And it's almost impossible to talk about road repairs without getting political.
So enjoy it while it lasts.

Much worse. Zero spending on infrastructure. Fuel taxes are going to things other than roads. The fed only gives out highway funds for repairs, upgrades are on the states' dime. Traffic volume up, available tarmac down, it's a mess.

Here on Cape Cod, they spend millions on bike paths that get used by a handful of people for 3 months a year and the roads are falling apart.

This may sound political but it's just a fact of democracy. All we have to do is stop voting for incumbents until they start doing what we want. If they don't vote in term limits, let's do it ourselves.

It's called infrastructure spending. Politicians always run on spending money for it. However the money never seems to get appropriated for it. With the latest tax cut I highly doubt it will get done in the near future.

I think that the "government" is awash in money, but they will not use it for its intended purposes. It eventually goes into pet projects and "social justice" feel good programs that do zero good, and create additional dependency.

The lions share of all gas taxes were supposed to be use for road/highway building and maintenance. It gets diverted, and so they keep upping the ante to get more.

Our California roads even with a massive gasoline tax increase are terrible! Gee, if I can just serve 6 years in the Assembly or eight years in the Senate without fixing anything but funding pet projects...Iโ€™ll be termed out! And the bullet train...now they get the funds.
