We started doing caching around 8 years ago. We did most of our caches in those early years, and have only done a few handfuls in recent years. We enjoyed discovering new places that are local to us but we never knew about.
When Geocaching was overrun with a zillion urban micro caches we got bored with it. We like the old style full-size rural caches better. Hunting for a 35mm film canister in a parking lot just didn't work for us.
