It depends on what's around you. If there are campers in adjoining sites, I would pull in, shut down and hit the sack as quickly and quietly as possible.
If you won't be bothering anyone nearby, do whatever you want to do. Stuff happens and getting there very late can always be a possibility. As long as you minimize the commotion as much as possible, others will just have to deal with it.
