Strange, I've never been in a state park that had locking gates. Guess I just don't get around much!!
Maybe it's an East Coast thing, but about half the state & county parks I've camped at had gates with coded entry. Several made a point of indicating on their website that they won't give out the gate code over the phone, but others may do it differently. Seems like the safe thing is to call if arriving very late.
