- Rog___NanExplorerStarted in late 40's (ages) in tent by end of 1st season bought a used pop up. Had that 10 years. Had an older used motor home for one season. Then ordered a new Georgie Boy in January of 1996. Still have it and it will be 21 years old this April. Camped until we retired in 2001. Spent 10 years traveling the country. Now at 81 and 83 we are back to camping and traveling in Indiana and Michigan. Hope we don't have to stop anytime soon.
- irishtom29ExplorerWe bought our first RV at age 65. We both retired at 55, looking back we should've bought one then.
- Jebby14Explorerim 30 wife is 29 we have owned our own for 3 years but been going with family for our whole lives.
- travelnutzExplorer IIGuess I hadn't actually stated my age when we purchased our first RV, a new Georgie Boy slide in truck camper. Was 23 years old and after college and the same age for my wife as she is less than 3 months younger than me. Just young'uns then!
- 2012OudoorsmanExplorerBrining down the average here. Bought my first TT at 22 and just order my first 5er that I'll have at 26.
I think the average age sounds right. Camping is a family or retired tradition. I bet if you add 5 years to the average age people are starting families and that will be near the average age for people starting camping - kennethwoosterExplorerAs a farmer I could not find time until had a mini stroke and realized I needed to get away. That was 2003. Now that I no longer farm we spend 3-4 months in Rv. I'm now 72 and hopefully many more years.
- BizmarksMomExplorerI grew up tent camping and backpacking. Continued doing that through adulthood. I bought my trailer when I was 43 and could finally afford to pay cash for one. (I won't go into debt for unnecessary things. That's just me and my comfort level.) I'm now 46 and shopping for a trailer that will handle boondocking better.
- colliehaulerExplorer IIIIt looks like the average age that people bought their fist camper on this thread so far is around 35. Rounded up for mid year and did not include tent camping or with parents.
- mgirardoExplorerStarted camping with a tent while in College. We bought our first RV when we were 31.
-Michael - ChuckV1ExplorerI remember camping before my teens in a tent, then as a teenager in a tent with the boy scouts, weekends with my One Uncle and Aunt an cousins many times, then with the Army in the 60es LOL .... Bought a slide-in truck camper in the 90es, second truck camper in the 2002 and our 1st 5th wheel in 2007, bought a new 5th wheel this past February... The wife in her late 60es and myself in my 70es were not slowing down any time soon Yahooooo .....
