Bathroom vent leaking

We just came from a short trip to the lake, very humid days and some rain. During the stay i noticed some condensation on my AC vent in the bathroom, also noticed a couple of drops on the Trim of the the vent above the shower. Today when i parked the TT in its carport, I noticed more water accumulated on the inside trim of the vent (dirty water)- took out the trim and the wood is dry and no sign of water coming in, there was some water accumulated on the trim but no where else.

We have Max air covers over our vents and have gone camping in times with more rain than this time. One thing i do (and maybe is my mistake) i always leave my bathroom vent open at least one inch for ventilation, At the house both vents are completely open also when on the road. My though is maybe the combination of humidity so high this week, the AC going and me leaving the vent open - lead to more condensation.

I am not discarding a possible leak; i have all the materials ready in the house for my summer roof maintenance and i was waiting for after this trip to get on it. Also, TT still under warranty - i will be calling dealer to make an appointment for a complete inspection.

I guess My Question is, Any of you have had any issues with condensation in your rigs? first time for me.

I will post some pics, i just need to learn the deal.
  • It looks like I can sleep without worries. I left the AC running for the last couple of days, all vents closed, the TT is nice and dry inside with no sign of condensation.
Now i can get ready for roof maintenance.
  • Your on the right track. In the summer we always only open our bath vent to shower and close it afterward. Well one day last week I turned off the fan in the vent but forgot to crank it down so it was left open all night about an inch. In the morning the whole vent assembly and even the ceiling from the vent all the way to the air-conditioning duct in there had condensation all over it.
  • I think you are right. We had so much humidity these past few weeks that anytime we turn our AC down below 72 there was condensation on the outside of the windows. Cold inside - hot humid outside. You had an area by the trim where the hot and cold were meeting so condensation formed. We never leave our vents open when running the AC. Why would we want to pull the hot humid air inside the coach. Better to have them closed so the air inside recirculates as it should with the AC.
  • We've had pretty extreme condensation before, especially when using our big buddy heater. If the wood is dry hopefully that was the problem and there is no leak.
  • Confused whether the leak is from a vent or an A/C?
If from the A/C take off the cover and tighten up the four bolts that hold down the A/C and squeeze the gasket. Start with a 1/2 turn to see if that stops the leak.
That's assuming the RV is several years old. If new it shouldn't be a gasket problem.
  • I suspect you are right about the condensation. The answer is to better ventilate your bathroom--run the fan to exhaust the moist air during and after showers, even with the AC running. You can also wipe down the shower after use, and hang the towels outside, so that moisture is removed.
