I was taught no one cares how much you know until they know how much you care.....think about it.

I find myself posting less and less..... just read. If I don't like the content, I just move on.

Unless one is a really good writer, words and meaning can often be misinterpeted. It is difficult to communicate feelings and emotions with just words. So, I prefer to avoid it, even when I'm tempted to add my 2 cents.

Well said. Think I have quit more forums because of the insufferable posters than I would like to count. Seems they are the only ones who think they know it all, and refuse to be challenged.

Best action, IGNORE THEM.

Gotta second Ivylog here- though truth be told, I think the responses in that thread are pretty restrained, given how hot the subject of guns generally gets.

And I'd point out to the O.P. that no one so far has said anything about the no-caps, multi-comma style of his/her posts. I believe the English Majors here are mightily restraining themselves because of his/her New Memberness. Give the Forum points for that at least!

This post is my opinion (free advice). It is not intended to influence anyone's judgment nor do I advocate anyone do what I propose.

Irritating, isn't it? And it's usually the same posters over and over.
Good, knowledgeable, considerate contributers have left this forum because of it.

I also agree growing thick skin should not be necessary.

I second the comments of the OP. Too often when I read a question on here and the responses, I find that many of the responses are at times downright rude, are attacking the poster, or are non-constructive. I would suggest that if you have nothing constructive to say in response to a question that you not say anything at all.

As many have said - most of the input you will receive here will be thoughtful and considered. Sadly, there are some who like to talk down to people, or chastise them for 'wasting their time' by asking a question that has been asked before (which is one of the most absurd arguments I've ever seen - if you don't want your time wasted, don't read the post and then spend time chastising the inquirer).

I came on here as a complete novice in the RV world some 5 years ago and learned invaluable lessons as we got into it. I can't count the mistakes I've avoided, and the benefits I've received, from being a regular reader and contributor on this board. And, I've never blocked a single person - I just ignore the snotty comments and take in the helpful ones. I hope you will stick around for the same benefit!

Nicely said. I actually started on this forum almost a year ago and kind of went through the same thing. Some answers, opinions or whatever you want to call them seemed rude. I actually went to another forum on rv'ing and it was twice as bad. My thought is that these forums are there to encourage, help answer questions, and help people who are "green" to the whole idea of rv'ing. No so on the other forum. That's why I came back to this one.

We all don't have unlimited knowledge or budgets for what we dream we want to do. If we all had unlimited abilities, knowledge, budgets then there would be no need for forums such as this.

I love it when someone ask a "Dumb Question". Keeps me from asking the same thing.

It's like many other things. . . the more that I do it, the less that I know.

After ~10 years RV-ing, and a lifetime of camping, I realize that there is an entire new level of understanding and competence that I don't yet possess.

Still learning.

elle8, WOW you said it. Well, don't feel alone because I know I (I won't say WE and include DH in this) ask dumb(? and who is the judge of what is dumb?) questions and we have been RVing for years. We are always ready to hear opinions and ideas and learn something new. I just got blasted on this RV Lifestyle section myself. I just choose to move on to another section where the chat is pleasant. Mostly we have gotten really nice, helpful and friendly advice on this forum. There are all sorts of people out there and some appear to be having a bad day. So keep asking the questions and those of us who maybe know some answers will be happy to help you.
