Bicycle Cover to use on M.H.

I wasn't sure where to post this so will try here.

We are looking to buy a cover to put over our bikes while we are transporting them on a hitch mounted carrier on the back of our M.H.
We have seen other M.H.'s with them but have not been able to check the brand, availability etc.
We are looking for something that is durable and somewhat fitted and easy on/off.

Any info would be appreciated.

I also will be finding one. I thought about a bbq grill cover (if I can get the right fit) and I would probably need to make mods to get it to stay on.

I want something that will last and not shred....the material is important too.

Tried that. It shredded to bits.
  • Here's my cheap guy answer. I use the heavy duty black garbage bags and bungees. Works very well. I should explain we don't take our bikes everywhere we go but this works for us.

Did you do a Google search?

Yes - all the covers claim to be the best! Personal experience is the best recommendation.

We will be using this cover a lot - it is not intended for one trip.
Usually we transport our bikes in our tow car, but we are downsizing our M.H. and will not be dragging the tow along and need to protect our decent quality bikes.

    Thanks for the various recommendations.
  • Here's some reviews of the Swagman, looks like a good cover if it fits over your bikes. Here's the Classic which is a 3 bike cover very similar to the Swagman, being for 3 bikes it may fit better. If it's a bit loose you could use a bungie or 2 to keep it snug. I own neither as I carry mine inside my truck cap.
  • Gas grill cover. Held on by a length of cord and a couple bungees. Survived our trip to AK and back. Still have it, but it won't fit over our tandem now... ST
  • We use this ADCO cover

Works great once I figure out which way is up and left to right! Usually takes two or three tries to get it right.

One trip was from Chicago to Tucson to Tampa to far upstate NY and Canada with two bikes on the back of the fiver, the cover held up fine. It has plenty of straps to keep it in place.

  • I have one I use on my bikes. The challenge is getting it to stay on while you are moving. Most covers are made for storing your bike while it is stationary. I bought the waterproof one from HERE. To hold it on I went to the local hardware store and bought some brass grommets. I put the bikes on the rack, and the covers on the bikes, and marked where I wanted the grommet holes. I use 2 small bungees on each bike, one at the bottom of the rim to keep the covers in place. I have yet to loose a cover in 10K plus miles. If there are decent covers made to stay on from the factory, I have not come across one, maybe someone else has.
