Blue ox 2000

I got my WDH and it is a beast has a 2 1/2" shank and with the hitch head weights about 75#. How in the world do you manage these? I don't like leaving it in the truck so any suggestions?
  • I made a handle that goes in the unused height adjustment holes. I took a bolt that goes through the hole, and welded a 6 inch piece of angle iron to the head of the bolt. I then got a longer bolt and welded the head to the other end of the angle iron, and put a piece of PVC pipe over the bolt that is at the top, and that is the handle grip.

It is not pretty, but made it from stuff I had in the basement, and took about 10 minutes to make it.

I have the same Beast. I bought a small 4 wheel furniture type dolly from harbor freight, 4 boards and 4 swivel wheels.. I remove the hitch by hand just lowering it from the truck to the dolly then roll the beast into my garage. Saves the back.

That's what I did. A $10 dolly from HF and some scrap 2 by pieces screwed to it. Made it just the right height so only a wiggle of a lift to install or pull.

  • I pick mine up one handed and do presses over my head.:B

Fortunately I am still quite capable of removing mine and putting where I want but I know in time that will change. Following this with interest.
  • Have a short section of square tubing that the shank will fit into welded under your trailer tongue on one side. With that you can unplug from the TV, pivot about 90 degrees and slide it into the tube under the tongue. About the same height so you don't have to stand up or lean down to do the maneuver. It can be lockable if you so desire.
  • I keep the head of our Equalizer 4 point 10k stored in the left front of the pass through storage of our TT just a short walk from the hitch receiver. It weighs around 70 lbs. That little corner in the left front of the trailer is mine for all my stuff. The rest of the trailer is hers.

  • If you are asking where I store my hitch???

I just store it under the trailer tongue on the ground....sometimes if I am feeling paranoid or if we are going to be away from the trailer for a long time, I chain it to the tongue with a long bicycle cable/ chain that I have.

If we are not camping...I store the hitch head and bars in our garage at home.

Yes...it is certainly a "beefy" hitch.

I use a Hitch Grip to move mine to and from the truck,
    Really helps.

    Hitch Grip LINK

    (not me or my hitch)

I did buy one of those. Where do you store yours?
