Sounds like the fire marshall is putting it down to an unattended electric heater that was plugged in though off. Owners are Park employees who have a primary residence elsewhere, thankfully.

(We have one in a park (WA state) and wonder about having something like that happen. What would happen if you caught the park on fire? Would insurance cover it)?

I'd sure like to read more details! - that is a shame though....most people wouldn't think about unplugging from the post.
