Byeta

Anyone taking Byeta for Insulin Resistance.
I've been taking Lantus long term insulin and Novolog short term insulin.
Just trying to change from the Novolog to Byeta.
How has it worked for you?
Are you having problems keeping it cool while with you?
  • My husband used to use the Byetta pen. Since he lost a lot of weight, he no longer needs it, though. It worked well for him during the time he was on it. We weren't traveling very much at that time, so I can't tell you if there were any problems keeping it cool. He kept it in the fridge at home and used the little cool pack when we would be going out for the day. Hope this helps.
  • I've used it today. Accidentally used three doses today. Couldn't tell the small doses were being injected.
Caused some problems along with a bug.
It seems from this it does work. It cuts appetite.
Insulin stimulates appetite. Maybe I'll lose some weight.
I hope side effects are few.

I used Byetta for about a year, after failing a 6 month trial with Metformin (couldn't tolerate the diarrhea and vomiting.) Byetta was a good drug for me, for about 9 months. It kept my appetite in check and I lost some weight. But then I started to experience queasiness in the morning and then the vomiting started. I could tell that it was undigested food. I looked it up and found that one of the adverse side effects of Byetta is gastroparesis, a condition in which the stomach stops digesting and pushing the food into the intestine. Therefore, the food basically sits in the stomach and rots. Yikes! This was exactly what was happening to me. I had to go off the Byetta permanently, but the gastroparesis reversed itself immediately and has not returned, thank goodness. I couldn't live like that!
  • I'm having a severe dizzy spell. Fell and hit my head and arm and shoulder. And it isn't going away. VA did MRI said not a stroke but fluid in ears. Started a few days ago. ENT wont see for two weeks
Does Byetta contribute to that kind of thing. Reason I ask I'm too ill to do any reading much. I've spent last several day off my feet.

Dizziness can be a side effect of Byetta, according to this, it happens in about 9% of consumers. Does your primary doctor think you need to continue this medication?
