The gasoline tax will increase by 12 cents, from 18 cents to 30 cents per gallon
The excise tax on diesel fuel will rise 20 cents, to 36 cents per gallon.
And the diesel sales tax rate will go from 1.75 to 5.75 percent.
Actually Ca is much worse than the 18 cents, you mentioned. By the time you add up the state sales, excise, and other fees Ca charges over 38 cents per gallon, and now your adding more to that.
Good breakdown of state taxes only, federal is not included.

All well and good for you...
For others, not so good, especially retirees on fixed incomes. Spiking fuel prices will limit travel...
and probably negatively impact RV sales too.
Maybe I need to park the Prevost....:p - Redcatcher70ExplorerOur state is also talking about increasing our fuel taxes. Seems as though the increased fuel efficiency of vehicles has decreased the sale of motor fuels, the prime source of revenues for highway maintenance. Electric vehicles, using the same roadways, will buy no fuel at all, what then.......
- jesseannieExplorerGot to pay for upkeep on the roads that all the RVs are wearing out.

California is responsible for a lot of the food we eat. The higher cost of fuel will be passed on to the consumer.

Doubtful that California's increased fuel taxes will make it to the roadways. I'm guessing PERS bolstering. - ksg5000Explorer12 cents is bad enough - but if it's like Oregon the individual cities can add on their own taxes (Portland just added 10 cents). This just drives people to hybrids and electric cars and the govt still ends up with less money after the tax increase. Seems like most states are still struggling to find fair way to generate money to maintain the roads - govt misuse of road repair funds hasn't helped.
