My grandson and I always use the bath house showers at the same time since my daughter insists I keep an eye on him when he travels with us. I also walk DW to and from the showers if it's late. I don't trust any place even if they advertise security.

We have to take care of ourselves and our family. It is really disturbing to go someplace where you trust your safety is assured and be the % that is victimized.
Despite all you can do these things happen to someone. Practically no one especially women are equipped to handle assaults of this or other nature.
Be prepared is good motto for us not just the Boy Scouts.

One major place to be very aware is the "REST STOP." Freaks, tweaks, and crooks hang there to glean what they can. You know, sort of like Seagulls or Crows.
I carry pepper spray quite often when using the facilities. I'm not paranoid, but work in the business of criminals and crooks.
Glock on a rope is funny! Probably not what you need with soapy hands, but consider the shock when some thief sees you (naked and soaped up) with a black 45 on a string hanging around your neck.

Read the replies that are posted after the article. The last one is indicative of the views many people have of RV parks and campgrounds. The great unwashed do not view the RV industry nearly as nicely as we do.

"Stuff" happens every day - everywhere.
Good / Bad / legal / illegal / sometimes funny - and sometimes just plain "weird".

Years ago, I worked at a very busy Drug Store (major chain).
Upscale neighborhood. Major intersections of two very busy blvds.

An 'unclothed' person walked down the sidewalk (distance or time unkn), gathered a following - then walked to the Pharmacy at the back of the store.

No attack was involved - and it's been too long to remember what the request to the pharmacist was, but a sheet was provided - and the PD showed up for an escort to a new "campground" - maybe even a shower.

BTW - maybe you should trade your Mace for a "shower pistol" like "stew47" (Soap errr - Glock on a rope?) - - or shower in your RV.
Besides avoiding attackers - you may avoid athlete's foot also..:B

I always carry a pistol...except to the shower house. What a terrible thing to happen. Locking stuff only keeps out the less determined. However buddy systems, vigilance and locks might help.I hope they catch the animal.

I like the trend in newer facilities to have individual unsex bathrooms that lock. Some CG's have a separate handicapped bath and/or a designated "family bath". I think that we will see more of this type of arrangement as older facilities are renovated or replaced. I'm not a fussy camper but I have seen restrooms that freaked me out and I wouldn't go near them. I am so sorry that this incident happened. lizzie

My wife and I with two of the grandkids (girls 17 and 14 years old) were there for a week of camping this past summer and had a great time. This incident is just proof that you always have to exercise some level of vigilance wherever you are.
