I don't believe Nevada is going to sell a gun to a NY state resident

most IF not all states require you to be a resident to purchase a firearm

YES you are allowed to purchase a 'gift' firearm for a family member,
as long as the family member has no legal restrictions against ownership

transporting is NOT a big issue, except for those 'anti-gun' that want it to be

I am probably correct in assuming that some one has already tipped off the NY authorities that a NY resident wants to circumvent the NY laws and have his parents become gun runners. This is a situation that the anti gun folks will latch on to an run with it. If I remember correctly there was a bust where firearms were being smuggled into NY form other state via a bus.
IMO I do not think this is a good idea.

Boy is that true! New York withdrew from the Union earlier this year and no longer honors or follows the US Constitution.

It's response to a terrible tragedy was to disarm all future victims.

Not debating the issues, but pointing out that what may seem logical or valid in most other states likely has no standing in NY these days. :(

New York has some odd rules. NYC has some odder ones. It's one of the reasons I no longer live in New York.

Handgun: would be a simple, no. Legally its a no.
Long gun: would also be a no since NY has Assault Rifle rules and those get really weird as to what is and is not an "assault rifle". To protect yourself the answer would have to be no.

In states like NY it's cleaner and easier to stay legal by going through a local deal to get what you want. If they are not willing to find it, sell it, to you there is probably a very good "legal" reason.

Laws have changed since I last looked into them but I believe this method still works.

First: Before you buy anything, find a LICENSED GUN DEALER in Vegas. (or at least NV)
Also find a second LICENSED GUN DEALER near your Son.. Contact both and set it up.


now, make your purchase and take them to the dealer in Vegas.. He ships, under his License, to the dealer in "Son's home state" and Son then picks them up there after demonstrating his eligibility to own a gun under his state laws.

NOTE: you need to find a dealer pair that is willing to do this (many Gun stores are willing to do this) before you do anything.

Make absolutely sure it is NOT a firearm classified as an assault weapon in NY. I would recommend that the selling dealer call the NY FFL to insure the rifle isn't prohibited under the SAFE Act since, unless your grandson is LE, he will not be able to take possession of it.

Since you mentioned a license I'm assuming you're talking about a handgun. If that is the case the answer is ABSOLUTELY NOT. The same is true of anything classified under the new NYS SAFE Act as an assault weapon. It cannot be brought into the state under any circumstances except by a NYS law enforcement officer who is exempt from the SAFE Act.

There is some question as to whether you can bring other types of long guns into the state from a state that is not contiguous to NY. Of course Nevada is a non-contiguous state.

'Pawn Stars' do not buy any modern guns (weapons) only ones manufactured after a certain date (seems like it's around 1963, but not sure of the date). Therefore, they do not need a FFL, I believe.

Las Vegas has lots of gun shows and you can purchase anything you want at the gun show. You then can carry it with you across as many State Lines as you wish. You do not need a license to do this. We haven't gone that far away from our rights.

You may not be able to buy a gun in the State of Nevada if you are not a resident at a licensed gun store. Many states only allow local residences to purchase. Also if your State is on the list, you also may not be able to buy a gun in a State that will honor that list at a licensed gun show.

You can still buy anything you want at any gun show.

Husband just called UPS about shipping a rifle to our grandson across county and they will ship the gun to a dealer or licensed collector and Grandson will be able to pick it up there. Might be a better option.
