Changed my Profile - Official Floridian again!

I was born in the Florida Panhandle well over 70 years ago and somehow the North Carolina thing just never felt right. I fixed that last month by buying a house on the "Forgotten Coast" in the worm-grunting capitol of Sopchoppy (the new "South Beach"). We still have the mountain house and will continue to split our time, when not on the road. Let me know if you are in the neighborhood. lizzie
  • Might be next year when we retire, especially if I knew where Sopchoppy is. Miami area?
  • Yeah, we moved this past September from the NC mountains after fourteen years to Ocala, Florida. Originally from St. Augustine, Fl. Best thing is: NO STAIRS ICE SNOW and don't have to bail my basement after a rain am a "flat land tourister" once again.
  • We'll be at Ochlockonee River State Park from X-mas day 'til Jan 3rd. We like that part of FL. Hope the oysters are good this year!
  • Had to look up sopchoppy. What I found was a little country town inland between carrabelle and crawfordville. That's the new south beach?

. See you there Fish & Grits! We will be in site #23 beginning on Dec. 23. Our place is not ready yet.
  • I'll stick with the present- Thank you !
Home base for the summer is the high mountains of NC where it is nice and cool, and then in the Keys with our TT for the winter where it is nice and warm.
There is no need to change when you have the best of both worlds

You can expect a few frosts in Sopchoppy while I'm in my bathing suit in the Keys

  • That's the great thing about Florida, something for everyone! We also love our mountain place and will happily spend the summer months here.
  • Just last week stayed at Hodge city park in Sopchoppy. Nice. Had it all to ourselves other than one other camper.

It's a great park. I can put my canoe in the river there and paddle down to our new place. lizzie
