chicken or the egg? question

Friends just retired and left for a 3 week Motorhome trip. I week in, wife emails my wife and says everybody in the campgrounds have dogs! So is it people who have dogs travel in thier RV's or People who travel in RV's, like a dog for extra company?

These types of threads on this (or any) forum make me glad I don't know any of you.... I doubt I would spend more than a few seconds with any of you before I simply turned and walked away.

I camp with my dogs - always. It's part of the experience for me. But I understand that others don't want to camp with their dogs. It's a personal choice. I don't camp with a generator - ever. I understand that others want to camp with a generator. Again, it's a personal choice.

What gets me is the mindset that "I don't camp with my dogs, therefore you should leave yours home" or "I don't camp with a generator, therefore you should not have one either" and so on.

Give it a break people! Everybody camps differently. As long as WE ALL follow the rules and act respectfully and reasonably with each other, there is room for all of us. I think the majority of folks automatically see a dog or hear/see a generator and start drooling at the mouth anticipating bad behavior - what they don't acknowledge is all those other times when they didn't even know a dog or generator was around because the owner followed the rules.

My sister has dogs and probably a big reason she has an RV. I always thought the dogs and RVing go together quite well.

Thinking about the piles of RV park paperwork I've accumulated as souvenirs representing many nights of RVing, I can not think of any one of those being significantly diminished by other campers with dogs. Sure I've been yapped at when walking by a campsite. But I'd assign that as a 1 on the 1 to 10 annoyance scale. Leaves my mind in about 30 seconds permanently.

I am an early riser and I enjoy walking the campground in the morning calm. My walks are enhanced by being serenaded with barking dogs along the way. Then the owners are mad at me for making their dogs bark at me and disturbing them!

I like dogs and pets in general.

I don't like YOUR dogs. Don't assume because you love your dogs that the whole world loves your dogs. I don't want to hear, get licked by, stroke, or smell YOUR dog.

I have had pets/dogs in the past. I have no desire to have any pets that require care and expense now or in the future. Maybe my attitude would change if dogs learned how to pick up after themselves, run the vacuum, and pay their own bills.

As someone who regularly enjoys walks and hiking, I want to remind dog owners; keep your dog leashed at all times, even out in the woods and the legal definition of a leash is 6' or less.

Main reason we bought a MH was so our dogs could travel with us. If people don't like it, well poop on them.
