I did (the original poster to this thread). Good experience overall and nicely situated with respect to the track entrance at turn 11.

At that time you could run your generator if it was built-in to the RV - no externals.

We didn't have hookups and it wasn't a problem. Actually used the porta-poties that were just down from our spot.

Here was our lot M spot and our rented class C:


I would do it again. The Formula 1 race, which was attended by 160,000 people, we found getting in and out was pretty packed (local roads, etc.), but once we were there and setup shop, it wasn't too bad. One night we took a Taxi back from Austin. They didn't allow cabs to Lot M - expecting all cabs to come and go from the designated area about 2.5 miles away - but our guy took us to Lot M anyway for a steeper fee, of course.

Our Class C was a rickety 100,000 mile rental machine whose best days were a damn sight in the rearview mirror. My ultimate take away? Next time I'm doing it with my own clean relatively new Coleman Cobalt popup.

Be careful and lock up everything. A NASCAR track is the only place I've ever had anything stolen when camping. And we were in the restricted workers park!!!

Being an old racer myself, I got a ground tour of the COA facility last fall and a great bird's-eye view of it when taking off from the Austin airport. It it absolutely top of the world-class category. All my Austin old-time racer friends are blown away that it is located in their midst.

A friend who went to the first race was disappointed that there were no track tickets that allowed the holder to walk around and see the race at different corners. He had to choose one and stay in that area.

As for the guy with parking on turn 10, one of my friends who lives out there tried something like that and got shut down. There was no parking allowed except official lots with shuttles to and from the track. That was because the locals tried to prevent building of the facility because of anticipated high traffic in the area.

Whatever, have fun! I fondly remember the day decades ago when we ran across the entire world Formula 1 field on two open transporters at a service station. I have a Brownie box camera photo of it in an album somewhere.

most of the parking is WAY far away, 1/2 to 3/4 mile minimum.

Don't know about the parking lot condition, but go in with a full potable water tank and empty gray/black tanks. If the class C has a generator make sure you have a full tank of gasoline. Remember to take "navy showers."

Always wanted to watch a Formula 1 race, but only have seen them on the TV.

I've never been there, sorry I can't give any info on the location, but you will love having the class c. Enjoy the trip. Now that Speed Channel is gone, I don't know where I'll get my Varsha and Hobbs fix. Go Ferrari!
