The last time we had the TT out was the end of October 2014. Pretty much camping season was over in Indiana. We are planning a trip to Florida the week of Christmas. One week from today ... we should much farther South than we are right now!So today was "prep the camper" day. Had to call DISH to get our receiver activated again, the Tailgater worked great! Got our "grocery list" of items that need to be restocked in the camper, since we've removed all the food and liquids because of freezing weather here in Indiana.Now our 29 year old son is going with us. So it will be the 3 of us. So in order to accommodate him and his luggage we also need to make some space for him ... and here's where it got interesting. We've owned this camper for just over a year now (actually 15 months now). When we got it, we threw out stuff by the droves in the old camper and never put it back in the new one. Here we are 15 months later ... another clean out!Yep! you know where this is heading, right! 3 big trash bags of JUNK! In the Dumpster! It freed up the entire cabinet above the couch and one entire cabinet on the left side of the entertainment center (television). A few items got placed under the bed, and a couple items made their way back to my tool box and a couple more made their way back to the truck. But it was the 3 bags of trash that made their way to the dumpster that really surprised me! Sheesh!My son will have room for his junk for the week now and when we return and he takes it all out, I suppose it will give us new room to start all over again next year!How, oh how, oh how .... do we accumulate so much JUNK in such a small space in such a short time, I will never know!

I go this process several times a year, primarily removing stuff that has snuck into the MH.

It is amazing how "stuff" can sneak into the camper. we now go through all the storage areas and take out what ever we can- I took out 25 hats one year! now I think I only have 2 (I rarely if ever wear a hat)we also have lots of dogs toys hidden around. have a great trip to Florida

Fulltiming now in our 14th year. Sold the house and nearly everything in it. No storage desired. We thought we had it nailed, but a year later, we went through and tossed a number of other things. Since, and to this day, we faithfully adhere to 2 rules:1) If we haven't used it in the last year, out it goes. We haven't had to use that one in a long time because we've pared down to what we really need/use.2) If something of lasting substance comes in, something else has to go. No exceptions. This one even saves money. :)

I'm a minimalist and unload the TT of everything I don't use. There is always a wallyworld to pick up things you need.I don't want to spend the money on fuel to tow around junk I don't need or use.Neighbor was the opposite and crammed every cabinet full and would only be gone two days.

Our 5er has a morgue. It is the box in the basement where a genny would go. It is only accessible from the front. Not easy to get at. Therefore that is where all of the spares & other assorted 'stuff' that is seldom needed goes.In the main compartment after 8 X 150 night seasons we are STILL useing a mixture of cardboard boxes & Rubbermaid containers. About once a year we don't have so much as a toss out. It is more of a FILTERING of what is in there.

Sounds like your trip is going well:) That's great.

My DH worries about WEIGHT so we never put anything in unless we can justify taking it along. Also everything has to go somewhere besides being piled on the corner bed, dinette area or the cabover bunk! When we clean out for the winter, it's mostly food that gets removed first, then clothing.

Actually we still have a bunch of stuff from our last camping trip/reenactment...no I don't know when we'll get that all out:)

Update... on our way to Florida. Left Saturday spent first night at Goodlettsville TN. Heading on South on I 65 and have a KOA scheduled tonight at Ozark Alabama. Will de winterize trailer tonight with full hook up. Then to Port St Joe state park south of Panama City Florida. So far trip going well. Had extremely heavy traffic all day yesterday. So far today its light.

It seems like every time I head out to the trailer there is a box waiting to go out with me. Last year we had to completely unload the trailer to take it to the shop and wow, the pile filled half of our two car garage. We never have hook ups but had a bunch of electric items for if we did. We also had the original roughing it gear and we never use it either so all of that went on a shelf in the garage in case we decide to camp either ways. Now it takes much less time to find things in the trailer and I now have room to put in some batteries.

We also have a rule of "Something new in, something old out", also have the if it hasn't been used in 6 months its gone.
The only exception is 2 cases of Scotch... some is 20yrs old in the bottle and 10-15 on the shelf. it can sit awhile longer!

Someone on here posted that you spend the first six months of Rv'ing loading stuff in your trailer, and the next five years taking stuff out. So far it seems pretty accurate.

I learned over time that there's no room for tools I don't know how to use or table service for eight. I'm single and there's no place to store dirty dishes, so I wash what I use and put them away. My tool box contains duct tape and a can of WD-40. If it moves and it shouldn't - Duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should - WD-40. (old joke)
Not quite true about the tool box, but I did remove the complete set of metric sockets and wrenches.

Minimalist here also!

I never had to 'clean out the camper' cause from the start I never over-loaded it with junk.
I camp to relax and 'stuff/junk' is work to handle etc. I don't want that with me at all.

We drive out of the yard and hubby says, well if we don't have it, oh well. I say, we don't need it anyway! :) Less is more in our lives.

I would be hard pressed to find one grocery bag full of junk to remove from our toyhauler.

after every trip the brochures/trinkets/shells/whatever are removed and spit clean for the next trip to hit the road.
