Convection Microwave

I'm looking at a RV without an oven, it has a convection microwave.

Does a convection microwave get hot, like 350, inside?

Does it sound like a microwave---loud?

I'm thinking if I bake something for an hour and half, I dodn't want to listen to a microwave running the whole time.
  • Yes, the oven fan goes the whole time just as though you were microwaving. It does get hot like a regular oven but pretty fast cooking. My wife always wants a real oven, so we now have both but seems like most of the rv's come without an oven nowadays which saves a small amount of space but we'd rather have the oven. I think if you order a new one you can have it from the factory.
  • We fulltimed with a GE Advantium micro/convection, a 3-burner stovetop(propane), and outdoor portable fish fryer, and a outdoor portable BBQ grille. Whenever we boondocked (no hookups) we ran the ONAN Quiet Diesel 7.5 generator in order to have ALL the comforts of home.
We loved the Advantium so much, that when we built our new house we insisted on having one in our new kitchen.
  • Our first fiver had an oven. Using it in the summer heated up the fiver so bad it was midnight before we were comfortable. Second fiver, TT and MH have a combo microwave/convection. It's wonderful. We also have a toaster/convection oven combo in our S&B, TT and MH. It is much quieter than the microwave/convection. The toaster/convection oven is cooking a baked potato at 350 as I write this.
  • Convection Microwave sounds about the same as a microwave. I cannot imagine what you would cook in a CMW that would take an hour and a half.

We traded out our regular microwave for the convection microwave. Works great.
  • We have both types in our rig and prefer to use the convection microwave, there is a learning curve, but once you master it's many options it does a great job and is quicker to boot.
