Cool Tech tow harness

Can anyone tell me if the JK tow harness for 2014 Jeep Wrangler requires drilling through firewall and if this harness will work with Ready Brake Elite?

  • MonRen The Mopar harness install requires drilling a 1 3/8 inch hole through the Passenger Side firewall. You get access to the firewall after removing the front passenger side fender. The MOPAR harness does work with the Ready Brake Elite towbar. I installed the harness on my 2014 JK.

  • why not call cool tech and ask them ?
they don't offer any clue (or directions) on their web site.

fwiw i did some googling and I'm reading that some folks have had problems w/ the cool tech solution (bulbs are dim or strange flashing issues).

i use the mopar harness - works like a champ and splices into the factory harness (weather tight connectors).

  • I can only answer the first question. The Cooltech harness is routed inside the frame rail from the front bumper to the back where it exits and is connected to the taillight harness. It's just dumb simple to install.

I did look at the Ready Brake website. Don't see why or how the
Cooltech would interfere. Sure better minds will chime in.
