From the various field and lab type tests I've seen and read (and many credible outdoor media have done 'em) Yeti type coolers should in fact hold the cold longer than others and yes beats out even the Coleman Extreme that I so admire.
Take it back and see what the problem is. The company has a pretty nice warranty.
