- Dick_AExplorerFolks, especially at this time of year we should all think about the real reason for Christmas and seek peace and understanding.

He was free to, and did speak, there can be consequences from that speech however as there can be with all of us. Unreality TV has little to do with real life and an individual who plays a hick, with a masters degree, is about as unreal as it gets.
He may well not know that he knows LGBT folks, lack of familiarity breads contempt, and as the Pope said "who am I to judge". It is not our job, the Bible is very explicit concerning that.
But then, Phil didn't judge any one. He simply stated a Biblical truth. God made the truth, and does the judging. - Oregon_MsExplorerI don't know if I agree with you that his thoughts were that devious or that deep, but I will agree with you that when the water goes under the bridge the family will be better off for it. He'll make more money on speaking engagements than a Clinton! They may have their own DuckTV.
I think everyone is hypocritical. Gays have been laughing at rednecks for decades. Rednecks have been making fun of gays for decades. Obama sited Biblical reasons in his first campaign for not being for gay marriage, now he's "seen the light". It never ends. - revumpExplorerThrilled that they did ...

I was born in the SW and raised in Mexico and moved to the east coast after I was 18. I saw the "old south" and the new south and I agree, with Mr Robertson's comment, which many here are completely misquoting. Go read what he did say then come back and tell us that saw the old south that he is wrong. The uproar is being created by those who have NO idea what the south was and how folks lived, they are products of the radicals today and it is showing here....educate yourself then comment.
My parents came to this great country in the late 1950s. They were disgusted at how blacks were treated in the south (where they lived for a while). Apparently Mr Robertson hadn't noticed. That defines his ignorance. - TOMMY47ExplorerConsider this possibility--Robertson is a smart guy. He knows anything he says will go viral. He sets the liberal media and glaad up.
He makes his statement--the liberal hate, extortion groups go crazy--Those groups spread Robertson's religious beliefs--Christians are energized--He gets loads of free publicity--His family gets away from A&E which was putting a lot of pressure on the family--He seriously damages glaad. Not a bad strategy.
They're still very rich and will get richer.
BTW--A&E, which claims to be outraged at these statements is showing Duck Dynasty repeats nonstop today from 5pm to tomorrow morning. Same thing later in the week. I guess they don't mind "offending" after all. Total hypocrites. - Oregon_MsExplorerThese opinions were not broadcast on A&E. They were expressed to a reporter from GQ (or Esquire, or Playboy, or whatever it was). What does it have to do with A&E?
- pitchExplorer IIof which he did neither!
- Jean_SExplorerThis is absolutely not a matter of freedom of speech. Phil has every right to express his opinion. He does not have a right to demand that others allow themselves to be publicly associated with his opinion or to demand that they give him expanded opportunities to broadcast his opinion.
