Dealer Info

We are going to order a new Jayco Eagle 5er and have been given a reasonable quote by Indiana RV Connection. Is there anyone here on the forum that has purchased from them? We are in Oregon and they are in Indiana and I am a bit nervous about sending them money without a little research. Any thoughts would be appreciated.rt
  • The issue about ordering from a place like that is that if something is defective, good luck getting it fixed under warranty unless you drive back to the dealer. Most places will not honor a warranty unless they themselves sell the rig, and if they do, the RV will be last on the list, likely sit for months.

I'd rather use the quote as a starting place for negotiations than buy out of state, have to deal with licensing and registration, and then find some shop that you have to pay out of pocket for repairs.
  • I took a look their web site, and basically, they are just another dealer, like any other dealer in the country. They offer savings on your purchase because they are located in Middlebury, Indiana, 2 and 1/2 miles from the Jayco factory. It looks like they do have a "parts and service" department, and being so close to the factory, most likely, have an arrangement that any manufacture defects will be fixed at the factory (my guess there).

I did find this on their web site also under the parts and service page:

Because you purchased from an authorized Jayco dealer, your vehicle will be registered with Jayco. By registering with the Jayco, you can obtain factory authorized service at any authorized dealer / service center across the country. To find the location of the closest factory authorized service center simply call us or you can find an authorized Jayco service center on Jayco's Website.

If you purchase from them, you'll have to transport your RV yourself, from Indiana to wherever. Considering you live in Oregon, I hope you bring a sleeping bag.

I've been to Middlebury many, many times. It's an RV Mecca to say the least!

Here's some more from their web site. Good stuff. Sounds OK to me.

  • Add to the list of questions, as I understand it you WILL pay the sales tax on the total price of your new unit to Indiana before you leave the parking lot. How long and if you will get any of it back when you get back to your home state should be a question you may want to know first.
  • I purchased a 2012 Jayco White Hawk from Indiana RV Connection in March 2012 and was very pleased with the price & service I received. I live almost 4000 miles round trip from the dealership and can say without hesitation it was absolutely worth the time & effort to drive out and tow my new Jayco home.

Your new Jayco will come off the factory floor and get towed 2.5 miles to the dealership. That's it. It's as factory fresh as you can get.

My final price was considerably less than that obtained from any local dealer and the cost of the round trip was less than a one way charge from a transport service.

I really enjoyed my visit to the local area and especially the tour of the Jayco factory. I stayed at the Hampton Inn across the street from the factory which was not only a convenient location but a very nice hotel.

Every step of the transaction from initial price quote to delivery went as expected and the staff members at the Indiana RV Connection were exceptional.

They'll be able to answer any questions you may have. They do business with customers from everywhere in the country and can address any concerns you may have, including those regarding taxes, registration & licensing.

Feel free to send me a PM if you need any other information.

    Cheers.

I am so glad to hear this. I think many of the dealers in Indiana are superb, maybe because there is such competition in Indiana, being so accessible to the factories and all. But this is report is excellent! Thanks!

I found this to be true. I purchased a new Jayco class C in Indiana and had no problem getting warranted work performed in Pennsylvania. The dealer performing the warranted work was very accommodating. I called Jayco directly and they provided the name of the dealer that performed the work. Wishing you the best.

Don't drink the "can't get it fixed" Kool Aide. Almost any manufacturer will authorize an independent or mobile repair shop to fix it if you contact them ahead of time. There are lots of dealers that will also. In addition generic items like furnaces, water heater, appliances can be fixed anywhere even at other brand dealers. What do Full Timers do? Often they never see their selling dealer again..I'd go wherever the best deal is. If you buy a decent rig it probably won't need much in the way of repairs anyway. Besides the warranty only lasts a year...then who would fix it?.
