Dealer issue?

So went to pick up our brand new camper which we bought in November but left stored at the dealer for winter storage. Part of the deal was the dealer was going to remove all the stickers in the front of the camper including the factory ones and theres which had a sold sign our name on it etc. When I walked in I was expecting to see a shiny new camper again this was a brand new unit. What I saw as a camper that had stickers removed but all the sticky stuff and stains remained, when they washed the unit they left black streaks on it. I was so disappointed I was expecting the same treatment as when you buy a new car all polished and shiny. When I said something to the service manager he was indignant and said "well you know you got a great price its our internet special and we don't do much to them" He said he could see what they could do but it wouldn't be then but later in the day. Am I wrong on my expectations? By the way when we paid for it we told them that we would with hold $250.00 until we picked the unit up just to make sure we wouldn't have such a problem also we have it registered and have the plates can/should we hold that $$ until we pick it up as it was not done Friday afternoon and we have to go back. Am I unrealistic in expecting them to wash and make the camper look like we feel it should?
Your input would be appreciated.

And the story is dealer says if you buy this today we will store for you until spring which every dealer we spoke to when we were looking said the same thing also as far as insurance the OWNER (me) provides coverage and lets the insurance company know that it is being stored at a certain location. As far as the cleaning it up before picking up well that was negotiated into the contract with the $250.00 being paid upon my satisfaction. As of this morning the dealership washed and waxed the unit the owner came over apologized and gave me a $100.00 gift card. So I feel like they stepped up to the plate. As far as this forum I do believe this will be my last post as some sit on their high horses and judge and I APPRECIATE ANY ADVICE THE OTHERS GAVE THANK YOU!

Thanks for letting us know how this all came out. The dealer did do what he should have done, that's of course if he wanted to keep your business. He didn't go over board for sure. But it was nice to know he wanted your business he sounds like an OK guy to me. I sure hope the grammar police are not keeping an eye on me. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Now Dog Folks, you have been on the forum long enough to know OP's only present information that makes their side of the story sound believable. We as readers should ass-ume the unknown without being privy to the facts.

I think the dealer, for good will sake, should have just detailed the trailer and none of this would have been an issue. I'm sure the owner is now wishing he had just spent an hour cleaning it up. But, I sure wouldn't want many of you to be on a jury where you take the word of one person without hearing the other side. None of us were present to hear what was agreed upon regarding the OP's request to store HIS trailer on the DEALER's LOT. The dealer, no matter what was stated or written, would be responsible for safeguarding the trailer on his dime (insurance and property damage). Maybe the dealer felt they stored it for three months and it was the OP's responsibility to clean it up. If the OP had stored it a storage facility, would it have been the storage facilities responsibility to clean the trailer at the end of the winter season, or should the OP take it back to the dealer three months later and tell them to clean it since they bought it new and hadn't had a chance to use it.

There are two sides to every story!!!

In the contract it was CLEARLY stated that the dealer would store my camper and have it detailed upon delivery April first 2015 that being said that is why the $250.00 was with held you know some people are just ignorant and don't read all the posts on a subject.

Most people buying new RV would demand this be done along with the PDI before any signing of the deal. This way you're confident and happy you got what you paid for and expected. Even if it was to be put into storage on their dime. There would not be any he said she said.

So you say this was documented in the signed papers as part of the deal ... Less the $250 ... Just in case (also part of the deal).

So actually what was supposedly agreed upon ( from what you've told us) and documented happened, and you get to keep your $250 ( as agreed upon).

Keep your money - do it yourself or hire another with the $250. You can vote with you wallet on your next purchase by going elsewhere. But, again, most of us would have insisted it be done at signing. For what it's worth no RV dealer is going to "detail" your RV for $250, even on delivery. All ours required a day of further cleaning to get it where we could live with it.

Forget about it, Move on and enjoy your new camper.

UPDATE
So after asking the owner if they could bring it into his shop so my detail guy could get it taken care of he asked who was detailing it and I explained that the $250.00 that was with held would be covering the local detail guys fees and that was about $250.00....Well I am promised that the dealer will get everything off and wax the entire unit. We shall see.

You could hang a big banner on it saying, "Delivered in this condition by Petes RV" and park in a really prominent place for a few days.

I'd ask Pete if this was his personal RV, would he want to be hauling this trailer all over with glue residue all over the front and all the dirt and whatnot adhered to the glue. If he replies that it wouldn't bother him then I think that's all you need to know about him and his business. Regardless, I'd be looking for another place to get any future service work done.

Well, if the dealer was not going to provide superior service because of a low price, then the buyer should have been made aware of this fact before accepting the deal.
Oh sure, because we all know how honest dealers are.

Thanks for the name. I've bought lots of little things at Petes but never an RV. Their parts dept is pretty good, I thought.

UPDATE
Just spoke to the owner couldn't grasp the idea that I am unhappy about glue from stickers and such being left on unit finally said he and his service mgr and shop foreman would go look at it and see what they could do.

I am now worried about any warranty work that would need to be done at Pets RV in Burlington VT not very impressed with their customer service so far. Such a simple problem cant be resolved what about something bigger....

If it were me as soon as the service manager spewed that******it would have been off to the person that sold it to me and the two of us would have been in the owners office.to get it right. I am assuming you paid for it last fall and he agreed to store it till spring. That is very common. It should have had the stickers removed...been prepped and detailed for the day you picked it up. The Dealer needs to know what his service managers attitude is like...be it his son or not....because in the long run their overall service to their customers will make or break the business. As for keeping the 250....not going to happen as he will not let it go without full payment as he is entitled to. If you still get poor treatment go to the dealership principal.

I agree with that the owner and salesperson were at the NH RV show I have actually received an email from owner wanting to talk about this later today.
