Why do I get the idea that that particular red-neck rv owner's garage has no roof on it???

Just goes to show you that some people can improve their situation with the materials on hand, and that theres always some moron that wants to criticize and make fun of them. I guess its OK for him to be making a video while driving though.
Experience without good judgment is worthless; good judgment without experience is still good judgment!

Interesting. I remember in the Army we had sunshades for our mobile shelters. Fold down aluminum arms around the perimeter of the roof. Than a heavy duty tarp with eyeholes that mounted to a peg on top of the arm. Once the tarp was mounted we used guy lines to pull the arms out and stretch the tarp. Made about a 1 foot space between the top of the shelter and the tarp. Kept temps down and helped keep the rain off.

I love the green tie down straps. I assume they are hurricane protection.

I would not want to be following this down the road. The entire structure would come off in one piece.

I like the idea of having that, as it does allow for air space that can be vented to keep that area cool in the summer, and done right, it would allow for a massive amount of air to be blown past, making the A/C's job a lot easier.

Of course, there are the mountings... I wouldn't be surprised to see shingles fly off, if not the whole thing shear off after a long while on the road.

now imagine you are parked in the open, in Georgia, IN Late July or early August, temps well into the triple digits, NOT a could in the sky.

That 2nd roof is going to keep the sun off the primary roof, it will make the air conditioner work better, it will keep the RV cooler and more comfortable, What it will not do (Since in this scenario you are pouring water on the roof by the gallon from the AC drip spout) is stop leaks.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

Somehow, I don't see RV manufacturers using this type of roof.

But, it probably eliminated the leaks and made the owner happy.
