Diesel fuel

I have the same truck and use #2 diesel most of the time. We travel Oregon a lot and have been stuck buying up to 20% biodiesel and the engine ran fine.

I do use Optilube XPD additive. My truck was a rough runner when I bought it used. A couple of tanks of the additive smoothed it right out out and made it a little quieter at idle. I may be wasting my money but I am sold on the product.

Any fuel certified for hiway use will do just fine. Also bunker-A would probably be ok because it is distilled to #2 fuel oil.-- but it would not be do well in new engines.

Many advise to buy at real busy stations . Myself I see very little difference between a truck stop that stores one hundred thousand gallons and sells ten thousand a day versus a Handi-Way that stores ten thousand gallons and sells a thousand a day . It is the same percent of renewal at each fuel drop ! I think what nay sayers mean is if you pull up to a station that has 5 men in rocking chairs on the porch playing checkers , spitting at their coon dogs and ya hear banjo music in the back ground , do not buy fuel there !

Be careful when pulling up to a diesel pump. Not all pump handle color schemes are the same!

Around me BP handle colors are opposite of Holiday. Same color could be a diesel pump at one and a gas pump at the next.

Good point, noticed when traveling for work! One of those standards that are not standard! :S

nope just got it backwards.

It's # 3 we don't see any more that is a heavier oil, that we used in larger heavy equipment.

Use Chevron, some of the others may not be as good.
