Dinghy towing Chev 1500 with gas rig
Hi all, new here and I have a question...
Has anyone towed a full size pickup, specifically a late model Chev 1500 with a gas powered rig? I know the PU, 4X4 Z71, can be flat towed. My question revolves around the ability of the coach with the engine package to handle the PU.
I have a 2007 Pace Arrow 33 with the Ford V-10. I know the tow package is rated at 5K, but I've reinforced the tow bar by welding a 4" steel tube between the frame and the hitch assembly. I currently tow my boat which weighs about 5600 lbs., including the trailer. It tows OK...a little slow on the hills as you can imagine.
I also tow a Jeep wrangler, but looking to ditch it and my Diesel PU in favor of one vehicle, the Chev 1500.
I'm pretty comfortable with towing the PU, but trying to reassure my wife it's a good move!
