I tow with a crew cab dually and I use an Equal-I-Zer hitch.
I don't really "need" to but it's just that much better.
Half the reason I use it is for the other benefit of a weight distributing hitch that I never hear anyone mention: the downward force the spring bars put on the hitch ball make it virtually impossible for it to ever accidentally come unhitched. Heck, even if you didn't latch the coupler. It simply can't bounce out. I like that a lot.
I had that happen to me when I decided that the short trip to storage didn't require the EQ bars. Well I was in a hurry hooking up and long story short the trailer popped off the hitch bar at 35mph on a secondary road. Only damaged my ele. tongue jack and a small dent on truck bumper. If the EQ bars were put on (and the coupler latched)that would not of happened. I'm never in a hurry to hook up now after that experience!
