EZ pass

Do you have to purchase your EZ pass from your home state? May have a use for one this coming July but not in home state.

don't know about other states but in Illinois you don't "buy" the device. there is a refundable deposit when the device is turned in.

That's an interesting situation in Florida. I looked into this a year ago when I got stuck with my NY EZpass transponder not working in a rental car in FL. Found out that there was a federal law that required all states to have interchangeability by 2016. Florida apparently thumbed their nose at that requirement, and here we are.

E-ZPass is now accepted on the Central Florida Expressway (CFX) system. CFX also offers the "E-Pass Xtra" that works in FL, GA, NC, and the 15 E-ZPass/I=Pass states.

    One Toll Pass. 18 States.

Ah, yes. There are so many. Kansas calls theirs the K-Tag. There are more...NATIONALPASS (multiple states), Pikepass (Oklahoma), EZ TAG (Texas), TxTag (Texas), and TollTag (Texas). Too many to keep track of.

  • I got a Kansas EZ Pass for a trip to Colorado last year. I haven’t been back to the Kansas turnpike since then but passing all those people waiting to pay made it worth it.
