Fat man falls through bed. News at 11.

I realize that my camper is one of the least expensive on the market. Just the same, I was surprised to learn how puny the screws were that hold up the wooden boards that support the dinette when it's in sleeping position. Labor Day weekend, I rolled over in my sleep, and two of those puny screws snapped. When I investigated, I found that the entire table was supported by six very skinny light weight screws. I had to go and find a Home Depot, buy a drill, and add several sturdy bolts to fix the situation. I know I'm a big guy, but I have slept on that bed 170 nights. Several of those nights there were two of us in the bed. I don't know why they decided to snap all of a sudden.

If you have a lower-priced camper like mine, you might want to check and see what supports your dinette bed. Maybe be proactive and put some new bolts in there to prevent a surprise during the night.
  • 170 nights doesn't qualify as all of a sudden but it is pretty poor that it broke.
  • Good to hear you weren't hurt, but I stayed up and watched the news and never saw you. Now I have to take a nap today:Z:B

  • Wow - talk about a rude awakening!

    Glad you weren't injured.
  • JJ, me thinks that maybe you had that camper rocking over the limit. Now fess up. :R
  • Not the first time! check out this link and pictures. I had a log of comments about losing weight after this one!

:B. Love a man that can laugh at himself. Sorry for the trouble though.
  • The bunks on our HTT have weight ratings. Then I see the eightsmall screws holding the leg supports and I can't sleep. Quality is shameful in some units
