Went to AAA for some maps and was offered Woodall's camping directories. They were regional for all areas of the country and Canada. Comes with the road service (Gold Card)
Never realized they had them for free.

After 75 years the Woodalls independent directory is no more. Sadly, but in keeping with the times. With the merger of Good Sam, Woodalls, & Camping World into one entity, it was obvious that Trailer Life & Woodalls were duplicate, competing directories within the same company.
The Good Sam Family group sold the Woodalls guides to AAA to replace their regional camp guides . The listings in AAA now mirror Trailer Life account rep. team visitations in the Woodalls 5/5 format, or copy the public camps exposure as has always been the case.
To us, AAA camp guides of the past were nearly worthless. From our with experience withAAA, there was no inspection, just a pay for lsting or haphazard note of public offerings.
The 7 regional Woodalls camp guides are an improvement on the previous AAA camp guides , as they do rely on visitation data.
That data is morphed from the annual Trailer Life account representive teams into the Woodalls rating format, to suit the AAA regional guidelines
In this way, Woodalls is still there as a trusted independent travel guide, AAA gains from actual quality 3rd party inspection.
You gain in accessibility to those guides within the limits of your membership.

Have you ever called on AAA for roadside help? You won't like it if you do! They would not help us with a flat tire on our trailer....TOW VEHICLE ONLY. That was with premium membership! GOOD LUCK!!

yep, I must have premium.just got a letter so I could add another person to my account for free until renewal time then $70. If I had the cheap plan I would read the fine print about RV coverage.

AAA is messed up! The people whom worked there don't seem to know what they are doing. I had to pay for my directories. I also have a premium Tow service up graded for my motorhome. When I went to insure my motorhome the insurance agent did not know what a class C motorhome was. To her it was a tent trailer. She asked me if it drove it self since it had a motor. This is not made up, but is true! After insuring our motorhome we went on a trip to Arizona. When we got back I noticed that I did not get any paper work in the mail from AAA confirming our new policy. Found that she did not insure us as she said. We were traveling without insurance because of the agents stupidity. Watch out when dealing with AAA.

are there different "levels" of membership? all of the various books, trip tiks, camping directories, etc. are free. you need to find a better AAA office.

AAA used to print their own. They stopped the duplication and now hand out Woodall's as you observed.

Some others might have not known this too.

I just found out about it this summer, I requested some "camping booklets" and they came out with these instead. seems to me that they are the same as getting them from Woodalls.
and yes, nothing is "free". I was always amused by folks telling me that their car came with some extras "standard". yep standard at an increase in list price. :s
